The Mask and the Mirror is a superb album with the wonderful soprano voice of Loreena McKennitt enhanced by the wonderful lyrics, some of them wriitten by her and others taken from different sorces and adapted for the album. The Song using the adapted lyrics of John of the Cross is my favourite and brings his poetry to life in a very special way.
The Mask and Mirror, which won a Juno Award in 1995 for Best Roots/Traditional Album, will become McKennitt’s ninth vinyl release. With its exotic palette of Spanish, Celtic and Moroccan influences, the album has gone Platinum four times in Canada and is approaching the Platinum designation in both the U.S. and Germany.
